Well - technically, incline means up and decline means down, but that depends which way you're facing! Language eh? Anyway, my guess is it's looking upwards - toward the sky! :)

From the way the figure is standing, I think it's going down from the photographer. But definitely an optical illusion, I can look at the photo and see it as either incline/decline

There are some blue wires on the left that give it away somewhat.

Chris.

Well guys we have had guesses both ways so someone is correct  I will reveal all in a couple of days.

It baffles me though and I know    :-\

I always say incline for both ways I think its just a term mine explorers use ... Fair comment though  :smartass:

I?m not convinced it?s doing either! Looks horizontal to me, I think it?s just the camera angle. Even if it?s called an incline

Judging by the assumption wagons are normally at the bottom of an incline, especially given the state of these, I would say we are looking up. But I cannot see any clues which give it away! There are some roads in the UK that look like they are going up but cars parked there roll the opposite way to what it should!

Actually, were you folks even sure which way it was going when you were down there?  :-\  :chair:

It's a strange world...

Looking at the sleepers, bottom left, it's definitely going up, but at first glance, it could easily be either way.

Assuming that the little stalactite at the top of the blue wire is growing vertically downwards, I'd say the incline is going up.

Crazy how hard this is to judge!

My gut says looking up, but the way these rocks look to have been caught by the cable makes me think it's actually looking down.

Either way, good game  :clap2:

Yeah, I admit that bothered me, and I had to make a decision... But I suspect you are correct! Also, why is the cable behind the wagons... However, there is also the string on the left, and if we knew it was hanging freely it would suggest looking up again!

I reckon Columbo would crack the case!

I think that the blue wires are a red herring (or a blue lobster or something), in that they could be caught on something and they're not hanging freely. So ? I haven't a clue!

Mmmm first one to say that  :clap2: BTW guys dont get too hung up on the wire to the left as our Patterdale Terrier Alfie is tied to that although the wire is part of the mine we didnt take it in .
