I was hoping someone else would jump in, but it's De Profundis, isn't it?

Certainly is De Profundis Pot - with your clues and mine I thought it would have been easy! In Notts Pot, one of the most popular pots on Leck Fell, although not on the most common routes. Oscar Wilde wrote De Profundis ('From the Depths') while in jail.  Over to you!

You may well be right: it seems Oscar Wilde wrote a long letter to one of his friends whilst in jail and it was posthumously called De Profundis.

Thought this would be easy... It's not far from a Yorkshire show cave.

Well – Clapham Beck Head fits the word count and proximity to 'a Yorkshire show cave', but I don't see how it fit the original clue.

And last time I looked, "Clapham" had only 7 letters anyway when the clue calls for 8.  :smartass:
