Eldon Hole

New fencing around Eldon Hole.

Some of the old fencing wire is in the south gulley.
It's out of the way, but would be easily removable if you're not got a load of rope hanging off your harness

Wire was gone today. Just some bits of wooden post remain. Nice new fence up there.

No, we were pleasantly surprised to see it. Note that the stile has gone now though. Also the last gate passed through on the way up has now been replaced with a short piece of wooden fence, and a new gate has been installed about 50m to the right (upslope). Also not by DCA.

Although I'm not sure when I'll get chance... I do hope to have a wander round Eldon hole, it's on my to-do list. What's the current state of the pull up cord/anchor for Millers, I' have a memory that there was discussion about it was tatty or something? Or was that in-situ rope from Millers to Damocles that people had been discussing?

It's all fine, as far as I know. The pull-up cord is a large triangle of polyprop, and generally gets a fair amount of use before it collapses.

at least as of 22 May 2022, the cord is all fine on the floor in a heap at the bottom of the climb- the pull-up is caput!
