It would seem that a walk along stanage edge requires full goretex, walking poles, mountain boots and all the rest, unless you are going climbing, then a pair of trainers, trackie bottoms and a fleece might be seen as overdressed...

Walking along the top is more exposed and takes rather less effort than climbing.

Why do climbers never like it when you point out the nice easy pathway to get to where they're climbing to?
