Hidden Earth Camping

Just bought my ticket for the weekend.
Was hoping for a bit of extra info about camping. I'm bringing the camper and wondered what time I can park up or do I have to wait until 8pm to register and then go find a spot?

More info will be forthcoming soon, some things have yet to be finalised. There should be a map on the tickets page of the website at some point but it will be announced on UKC and social media.

Hi,

I didn’t book our tickets but what time is arrivals from on the Fri evening?

Is there anymore information about camping?

I’ve tried looking at the website but I can’t find a schedule for the weekend (even without lecture details which are know are normally not released in advance) - it would be really helpful for planning our travel etc as the event starts tomorrow!

Thanks

Maxine

I can't find it at moment but was looking at timings the other day - it's 7pm for traders & 8pm for everyone else.

Some more information about camping would indeed be useful.

Lots of the cavers I know started after Hidden Earth last ran, so won't have any idea how it 'usually' works (and I've only camped at one or two and can't really remember)...

In previous years cars were not allowed on the camp site (as it was normally a playing / games field). So assume you will need to carry all your stuff from the car for some distance to the camp site. There is also a comment on the web site about no fires - not sure if that means no hot food at the tent, certainly not things like petrol stoves etc which might leave a burn mark on the grass.

I see the lecture program is now available.

Information emailed to people who have booked stands in the trade hall states:

"On Friday, the Trade Hall will be available for set-up between 19:00 and 23:00. The Trade Hall will not be open to the public, and will be locked overnight. Delegate registration will be from 20:00 to 22:30 and the Bar will be open from 20:00 to midnight. On Saturday, the Trade Hall will be open for setting up at 08:30, and the doors will be open to the public at 09:00."

I would guess that anyone who arrives before 20:00 on Friday will be given a job to do.

I'm told that camping is in the field in the primary school opposite, but parking is at the main venue (there is only space at the primary school for campervans to park). You should be prepared to carry all your camping stuff the short distance between the two sites. The camping area will have a no fires and no music policy.

And are there any limits to size of unit and numbers if bringing camper/motorhome? Not going to be happy if I turn up and have to go home again because I can't park up.

I doubt there will be a problem with size, there have been some enourmous motorhomes parked in the past

Web site now has detailed plan of site on tickets page and lecture list on lectures page. I get the impression from things I have heard that camping in cars will not be allowed on the main site and cars won't be allowed on the camping site.

Reply from Les on FB:
That area for vans has around 100 parking spaces...
The site is actually huge (2000 pupil school and primary school) so it throws the perspective off a bit...
