PORTLAND caves

did a few caves on portland with tim rose and friends did admiralty (short and very loose with a rusty old ladder and an annoying pointless end) magazine rift (short with a lot of terrible traversing some small notable moonmilk at the end)
windy dig (great cave by far my favorite for portland it is probably the most decorated cave on portland with plenty of bright orange flowstone, has had some recent abuse someone has muddied some very pretty flowstone trying to scamble to nowhere and also spray painted the name "chris" in white up on the wall this was fairly recently , this was also my first ladder pitch so was pleased (y)) we then walked out along to sharbutts quarry near blacknor to have a quick poke in persil cave only had a look as it has need for a lot of rigging as there is a large pitch requiring a long ladder and rope) we then had a pleasant walk back to southwell and all together a great day on the rock! would say that the spraypaint in windy had to be a caver or good climber as it was up a ladder pitch or really greasy chimney so someone seemed to have done it intently which is thoughtless and has damaged an all together beautiful cave!
