It's not natural, it's a steeply hading vein that's been worked out and then enlarged on the footwall to make a level, hence the shotholes. Lampwick may have guessed right...

Given that it is a mine and by process of elimination given other peoples answers, not one I have been to. Could it be Old Ash, since that is a mine I've not visited?
