PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION!!

Inglesport would like to display some new caving photographs in their popular cafe so contacted UKC with an idea!

Would you like to see one of your cave photographs printed, framed and displayed in pride of place in Inglesport cafe and win a ?50 Inglesport voucher (sponsored by UKC)??

Enter your shots on this thread.  A shortlist will be compiled and UKC forum members asked to 'like' their favourites.

The winning shot will receive a ?50 Inglesport voucher + have their photograph printed and framed by Inglesport.  Second and third place will also be printed and framed.  After 6 months on display the winners can either take their photograph to hang at home or Inglesport could advertise it for sale.  The competition will then run again if there's been enough interest.

Competition open to any caver resident in the UK.
Max 3 entries per person.
Entries in by 10pm 15th July 2018.
Shortlisted entries will be posted 16th July - voting (liking) will close 23rd July.
For this first competition - SUBJECT: Any aspect of British caving and taken at any time.
A brief (or not so brief, tell us more) description of where the photograph was taken is required.
Please post photographs at a reasonable size on the thread so can be easily viewed, however you will need the original in a high enough resolution to print successfully.

I'm no photographer, point and click at best, but to get the show on the road, here's a photo I like from an evening trip down Swildon's hole, my first foray onto Mendip with Mr D.Simey.

One from my trip to Iceland recently to a lava cave there, this was near the entrance... Now as we are both british does this count or does it have to be taken in Britain, when you say British caving?

In-case the above don't count, this is one I took early on in my caving career in DYO (Cloud chamber)... (I believe Wales still counts as Britain don't it?)

My last entry, one of Yorkshires slightly harder pots that captures the ambience of the cave, Jean pot. A small chamber providing relief from the mud just before the last two pitches. Definitely not an excellent technical shot, but my mates seemed to like it...

My favourite cave photo of all time (probably) is hanging in Inglesport Cafe. It's a photo from Papua New Guinea, of i think a French caver bolting along the roof of an insane river passage, just meters from the white water below. Maybe photographically not the most challenging photo, but the technical achievements of the whole expedition team, the model and the photographer the get themselves into that position and to capture the moment in all it's glory. Wow! I hope they don't replace that photo as part of this competition.

My first entry is a photo of Katie Eavis in the Tube in Peak Cavern. I generally deem this as my most popular cave photo, a label made easier by monitoring it's Flickr hits, so hopefully they like it  ;)

Hi Alex, for this competition it's photos of British Caves/caving rather than abroad, though I take your point about you both being British  :).

I am hoping we can run this competition on a regular basis with different subjects each time, one hopefully being caves abroad (or orange caves when your shot will be a shoe in  ;) )

Thanks for entering and supporting the competition/forum - you get another go.  Really like your lava tube shot btw  (y)

I'd need way more than ?50 to buy everything I wanted from Inglesport...but here is my entry anyway. It's a bit big so some scrolling may be required...

This, as I'm sure many will recognise, is Selenite Tunnel in OFD2. This was my first visit back to this part of the system in quite some time and my first time there with a camera.

This entry is Bridge Cave in the Little Neath Valley in South Wales. This is where I was able to both take the photo and be a subject at the same time via the wonders of remote control.

And my last entry is of Midnight Chamber in OFD2 taken on a trip where we failed to reach the Northern Lights.

The above shot is good, but have Inglesport not already got a picture of the colonnades? I guess they can replace it with this one?
