Settle Swimming Pool is a local charity. It's been struggling due to a financial hangover from when Storm Arwen blew the roof off. I use it a lot, so I'm subscribed to receive news emails. The one reproduced below explains how folk can help.

Please do! It only takes a few seconds. All the local children learn to swim there; it doesn't take much imagination to envisage what could happen one day if a child can't swim.

Thanks

Help us win £1,000 this Christmas!

Good Afternoon,

The Benefact Group have launched their 12 Days of Giving campaign and Settle Area Swimming Pool could win £1,000 - but we need your help!

12 Days of Giving provides 120 charities with a chance to win £1,000 each throughout December. Winners will be drawn at random, so the more times we are nominated the more chance we have of winning.

It's quick and easy to nominate us. Simply click this link - https://movementforgood.com/#nominateACharity and complete the short form to enter your nomination. Please make sure to enter Settle Area Swimming Pool in the nomination box or use our charity number 1171790 and select the Health category from the drop down menu.

The draws will begin on the 5th December and all nominations received between now and the 19th December will be included in every draw so please do complete the form and share with all your friends as soon as possible to give us the best chance of winning!

Thank you for your support.

There is a caving connection, North Ribblesdale BSAC used to train at Settle Pool; certain notable members of the caving community we very much involved with this diving club.

Done. These facilities are so important. In Iceland access to swimming pools is free to retired people as the government believes that health and fitness keep people out of hospital as well as living longer. Every town and village has a pool.

Easy peasy. I'm old enough to remember junior school outings to Wigan Baths and free school milk afterwards!

Just done it. A worthy cause - I learnt to swim there!
(and used to buy a lot of cream eggs from the little shop there too...)

Just done it. Camped at Knight Stainforth as a student many times and when river was too swollen, Settle pool was the answer.
