Almost, taking the Thames out leaves LLOIR remaining, with the 'or' giving the 'o'. But yes, correct answer 👍
 
Yockenthwaite Pot, I presume. I've never been. For some reason I associate it with dead animals. Maybe I'm doing it a disservice?
 
Yockenthwaite, with the restored c it is. It is oft mentioned in conjunction with skulls. so I think you're correct in the first instance.

Time for a clue?
A homonym followed by a synonym and another synonym minus the usual abbreviation for a ship.
Another clue as I'd feel guilty going into the New Year with a puzzle outstanding. The synonym for 'near' is 'kin'.
Hopefully that should unlock it!
