How do you wear your long hair for caving?

I wear my long hair in a plait and put it down the inside of my undersuit. A friend this weekend said this never works for her - her hair comes out of the plait, gets stuck to the velcro of her suit, and so on.

So, how do you wear your long hair that reliably keeps it out of the way?

Thanks :)I think Angie used to tuck hers up at the back. Seem to work most of the time!

Out there somewhere are two cavers who rescued me as i was dangling off my hair caught in my rack (twas a long time ago).
It was at the bottom of the entrance pitch in Bar Pot and I hadn't learnt enough by then. It was excrutiating - one caver sat me on his shoulders to take my weight off and the other untangled my hair/rack.

I have been super careful ever since and use a buff to keep it out of the way.

If by some chance either of you read this - THANK YOU!! 🙂

I used to get horribly dry and matted hair until I started using a buff (worn as a headband with plaits cradled in the back, optional second balaclava over for warmth)
Very happy to not spend half an hour bushing out anymore post trip- reminds me that it’s no wonder working women have worn hair coverings for centuries!

Long hair is an ancient and distant memory for me. I've had the 'pleasure' of my hair going into a figure of eight on an abseil. Fortunately only a small clump was ripped out.
