Redhouse Lane Swallet Update

Well, that's Saturday's trip written off...

We'll all have to wait a little longer to find out what happens next.

Update 21st April 2025.

Multi-team trip.
David Rose and son visited the cave and worked with Daniel Jackson at the end of the Cryogenic Causeway. Welcome to David and all other visitors. Great to have you along.
Taping team finished most of the work required in the Consolation Series.
Surveying team completed another 254m, including an on-going lead heading south between the two pitches at the end.
Both pitches dropped, but sadly blind.
Ironically, we set up a brew stop at the end, probably tempting fate as any further progress in this region will take effort.
Much more to be done elsewhere though.
Dan Sandford and I have managed 7 x 12 hour plus trips in 7 weeks and have set up the 'Redhouse Mental Foundation', for afflicted (masochistic) individuals.

Thank you all and huge respect for your efforts, and especially to Daniel for showing us the cave yesterday. It's a fantastic system with a unique atmosphere, and thanks to the entrance series, a serious proposition - although on the way out I found the ducks a refreshing way to cool off! Of course we had no heavy digging gear or drills, and I imagine lugging heavy equipment all that way must be pretty tough. The Symonds Yat Swallet to Wet Sink through trip that might one day be established via Redhouse Lane is going to be quite something! I'm already itching to go back and see some more of this tremendous find.

You're welcome, anytime, David. Thank you.

GCRG and FoDCCAG are pleased to welcome you to a presentation on the latest explorations of Redhouse Lane Swallet at 7pm on 16th May 2025 at English Bicknor Village Hall.
There will be a bar.
There is no fee but any retiring donations will be split between GCRG (cave rescue) and FoDCCAG (to assist in conservation costs).
We can't promise a Redhouse trip the next day, but if weather and logistics permit, that may be an option. Numbers will be limited, but there is also the option of the Wet Sink Long Round trip which is an absolute classic if you haven't done it yet.

We should add that the presentation written is for the locals, i.e. not traditional caving style and we've heard that there will be a good local turnout from the surrounding towns and villages. Locals will be given preferential seating so if you are travelling from afar, probably best to PM FoDCCAG via this Forum so that we can manage numbers.

Many thanks
