Redhouse Lane Swallet Update

Brief update from 27th April 2025.
We fancied a shorter trip this week, so planned to drop the final streamway pitch which is not far from Tiff's Treat.
This was dropped with the ensuing passage going via a duck.
After 100m+ of westerly progress in fine passage the stream disappeared under a boulder choke.
The 'shorter' trip was, only 10 hours instead of 13 hours.
We did at least see some sunshine on exit and make the pub.

Has the Redhouse Stream been dye tested to Symonds Yat? I vaguely recall Dalek(?) and Paul Taylor(?) pushing a tight passage upstream at a resurgence there back in the nineties?

Between playing with Cave Link we put a couple of tubs of dye into Symonds Yat Swallet sink hoping it would be seen inside. I don't know if anyone did.

Trip Updates 5th May 2025:
Team 1 - Dan S, BigDyl, Standard Unit of Tom and myself. Surveyed 5 question marks on survey beyond north pitch. Total surveyed 315m, about half of which is new passage.

Team 2 - Mark Tringham, Tom Elliot, Alex Hannam and Alex Randall. Completed surveying of previously known passage, plus some new bits in Pissimism. 433m surveyed.

Team 3 - Daniel Jackson, David Rose, Bartek & Paulina Biela, George. Photography trip to White Forest which we hope will be published in Descent 304.

Thanks to Paul for filming prior to trip and Falkland for the after cave hot chocolate.

If I've added up correctly, the new survey data will take the cave length to over 9km. Still more to survey and tape. No 'big' leads but a lot of dig sites.

Note that Adventure Traveller (Ian) has posted today a new video of older exploration, previously unseen.

Another great experience in Redhouse Lane - thanks to Dan and everyone else for having me along again. The White Forest is astonishing, but lots of the other bits of the cave that were new to me were pretty impressive too, in different ways. It is a serious undertaking, though. The far reaches feel quite remote... and contain plenty of sporting interest!

Had a fantastic first trip!! Thank you Dan and Tim for showing us around, and letting us help out with the surveying. It was fun and suprisingly varied, and we have barely even touched the cave considering the other routes you can do. Cheers guys! 😄
