I will have a go at east water in the next few weeks...
How far through is dolphon pot/chimney??
I now have a pair of ascenders and a pair of decsends.... so as long as I start at the top.... it would be a very easy task
If you're going to use SRT, the Twin Verts is probably better than Dolphin unless those pestilential folk from the Belfry have modified that part of the cave as well. J Rat reckons a 40ft ladder for the Dolphin pitch but it seems OK on a 30ft one - YMMV!!!!! I wouldn't recommend it without someone lifelining you - the ladder rests against the wall so it's easy to make a mistake and come off.
For SRT, Andy Sparrow (hello!) reckons 20m of rope for the First Vertical and 15m for the second if you stop at the ledge (don't forget the stopper knot!); twice that for a full descent (not obligatory). It might be an idea to confirm that!
Is that what you meant or did you mean how much caving before you get there? Dunno, it's a complex cave and I get confused
My log says 3/4 hr but that would be taking it easy by your standards I expect. I dare say it depends whether you take the Traverse or do the bedding plane bypass to the top of Baker's Chimney. Apparently I've done both so it can't be that hard. The Twin Verts route is the one with the "infamous S-bend" with "an unwelcome puddle", BTW. You won't really notice it.
Got to admit it. I'm enjoying remembering this stuff, I may even do Eastwater again myself before this year's out
