So is he back now?

When I get over there again later this year I want a photo with Bertie, he is so famous!

(assuming I get back over there)

(and no, I'm not kidding, I want a photo with Bertie)

The bat theives might have complained that our club girls are over weight but our bat made a 1/2 page spread on page 3 of the Wells Journal today.   The online version of the article is here:

http://www.thisissomerset.co.uk/news/Bertie-8211-bat/article-3253812-detail/article.html

He looks like he is being attacked from behind by Wookey staff and screaming to escape.  Yes he is now back on our lawn soon to be put back on the porch by Slug I expect.  He's a bit weather beaten since he left but otherwise in good nick.  The man who wrote the note around his neck has terrible handwriting but not bad enough to be a doctor me thinks.

Conspiracy theory pundits will have it that the cave management, the local press, and a caving club arranged the whole thing for a bit of publicity. It makes a change from rescuing animals from inside dinosaurs.  ;)

local news also picked up on the theft earlier on as well - it is a bit dead for stories around these parts sometimes...

Are we sure that it really is Bertie, and not a quality-control-failed near-identical lookalike made in China?

Thanks aubrey for getting there before me. Is this some kind of joke as I'm sure you couldn't get one through a photocopier.

Well what would be cool is to get a rendering of it and make little mini versions on a 3D printer...I have a friend who has a 3D printer...You could sell mini Berties! :D

Having a chuckle watching the old videos and rereading this thread tonight when I introduced a friend to the bat kidnap of 2010

Did anyone ever find out wtf did this as it most certainly and emphatically was nothing whatsoever to do with me and I'm still royally p*ssed off that I was framed over it.

He is a Mendip bat, tougher than most. The Belfry guard bat indeed.

Apparently on a previous occasion he wouldn't fit in the van, so made his way to Eastwater Lane instead...
