Cryptic caves

Correct Graigwen!
This was a very unpleasant clue Robin, as I have been trying hard for a couple of years to erase "Dido" Harding from my memory. Failure, incompetence, pocketing large sums of public memory - the epitome of the way the current disgusting Government has damaged our country.

I have been trying for a few weeks to wean myself off cryptic and AI puzzles while I do proper research. Now there will be a pause while I think of a new clue.
.

Following on from Robin’s complex multi-part clues here is a cumbersome one. This is a piece of made up text that plausibly describes a cave I visited last week. Some words are missing, some need replacement with words with similar meaning – these are indicated in red with the number of letters to be found indicated in brackets. When you have done this you should have 18 letters. Now just reorganize them to form the name of the cave, which has the letter count 4, 8, 4, 2.

My father (3) said to me, “It looks a good prospect, I think it could go. No, it is better than that, I think it ***** (5) go. You know what you have to do just beyond the ****** (6), you must *** (3).” He was right! Talk about “caverns measureless to man”, how *(1)ucking long is this cave!

OK bit of a strange "cryptic clue" this but here goes: missing words are DAD WOULD PORTAL DIG and F, giving ...

Ogof Tarddiad Pwll Du ?

Ogof Tarddiad Pwll Du ?
Exactly. And you did not need the clues in the final sentence reflecting on the connection to the unsurveyed length of Ogof Draenen. I think I should give up this thread again. Your turn now.

That's the one GrahamS - I was getting to the point where I thought an extra clue might be needed, but its all yours now.

Good one, had me stumped for hours.

Here's sommat slightly different:

Blackberry,
Kath’s,
Fosse,
My,
Rocky Mountain
(4, 4, 3)

The first half of this might help you not go off the rails. (If you get the first half, you will not need a clue for the second half!)

6, 7.

Flange Swallet?
Correct.
It is a site of extreme insignificance. One day in the late 60s when I decided to visit all the Burrington caves, I "did" Flange Swallet by lying on top of a pile of rocks as it had been completely filled in.

Your turn now.
