Also, the rope was coiled better at first, but this was about the 30th take and it had been coiled, uncoiled, dragged around etc in previous takes
The cavers are from the GSG and GUPA. Goon is the one with the shiny helmet, and of course the one you can hear. They emailed us out of the blue about it. They are working their way around the country and it just so happened that they thought of cavers to film in Scotland. They also filmed Bhangra dancers in Edinburgh on the same day. Also, the rope was coiled better at first, but this was about the 30th take and it had been coiled, uncoiled, dragged around etc in previous takes
Thanks for the info and well done to all of you. I'm still waiting to see it on the telly - they seem to be overplaying the outdoor swimmers, bird watchers and mountain rescue team at the moment. I hope the cavers will get as much air time as the hippos did
I've seen it on TV once so far
that video link was just a preview clip. was that it?
Maybe 30 takes was an exaggeration, but it was at least 20. They were trying different things in the takes. Apparently there have been at least 2 versions on TV - the first is in the clip, and the other is us crawling into the cave.We were told it would be shown before dramas. It's been seen before Casualty and before Line of Duty. Like most cavers I don't watch much TV and have only seen it when I recorded Casualty on the off chance it would be before it.
I can hear Goon in the background.
