J'Rat Digging Award 2020
« on: November 21, 2020, 07:34:15 pm »
An announcement from the judges of the J’Rat digging award 2020

COVID-19 has reduced the digging activity by most teams, but during the times when digging was possible, there has been some significant new cave discovered this year in both Mendip and Scotland.

While sadly it is not possible for us to meet up and celebrate in the Hunter’s Lodge Inn this year, it seemed wrong not to reward these new finds and also ensure we’ve added the winning cave to the Silver Shovel award.

We have had to adapt the digging award, so with work from Mark Helmore, Martin Grass, Stuart McManus, Alan ‘Goon’ Jefferies and Estelle Sandford, we have put together a short (very amateur!!) video to act as this year’s presentation. Congratulations to the winning team and thanks to those who have contributed to the content we were able to put together and hope everyone viewing this enjoys.

The link to the video is here from 19:30 this evening -

Hopefully the 2021 awards will be back in their rightful home of the Hunter’s Lodge Inn on Saturday 20th November 2021.

Stay safe and Keep on diggin’

Looks like the gentleman doing the announcements at the beginning is standing by the entrance to Draycott Cave.
