A video thread on UK Caving?

The second most watched caving video on YouTube

I made this video in February 2016 when I couldn't go caving due to injury and it's just hit 5 million views;)

It was inspired by the Red Bull video 'This 60-second clip makes you feel claustrophobic' although my version lasts 85 seconds. It's made up of clips filmed between 2010 and 2015 mostly of cavers negotiating some snugger cave passages. To make the film feel exciting I cut the clips to the beat in a piece of dramatic music. I would like to think that it demonstrates the massive importance of editing in making caving films watchable to cavers and non-cavers alike.

It was initially used for a UK Caving competition sponsored by Warmbac. The entrants had to name as many caves as possible featured in the film. Thanks UK Caving and Warmbac for getting the video off to a running start.  (y)

This video was ripped off mercilessly during the rescue of the Wild Boars Football Team in Thailand in July last year, purporting to show the cave rescuers in action.  I've had countless copies taken down by YouTube. Thank you YouTube, and thanks also to everyone that has watched it and made it so amazingly successful.? ::)

PS. To win a starring role in a future CK Production PM me with the UK Caving username of the owner of the wellies featured in the thumbnail for this video.

Ian demonstrates the best way to tackle the infamous corkscrew squeeze in Ogof Pen Eryr. As he says, "That was not easy. [Sigh, sigh]. I mean I made it look easy but it wasn't."

I remember being stuck on the way out of there for 20 minutes with Brendan behind me. He said later he thought he was going to have to eat his way out

A rather pretentious CK video from a couple of years ago that I've just uploaded to YouTube.

Also perhaps worth re-posting the videos I made of our trip to Mulu last year. A fantastic prize won at the '50 Years of Exploration' event. An absolutely brilliant place where everyone was so friendly and welcoming. We were so lucky to win this and Summer is still talking about it even now.  :)

I think a video thread on UKC is a wonderful idea. wheres youtube hogs the video posting rights, i believe here would be a better place for cavers to post their videos as it will give readers a better chance to interact with the videographers themselves on a more personal basis.

This is exactly why I started this thread.  :) However looking back through the posts there is very little interaction.  :(

I get far more feedback (both positive and negative) on my YouTube channel than I do on UKC.

I suppose YouTube attracts a global audience and my YouTube subscribers are both cavers and non cavers, or perhaps my videos appeal more to non cavers than cavers?  :-\

Also the Hidden Earth Video Archive (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKRIbxKeJFwalehHu5cX5QA) has only attracted 35 subscribers  :( and we need 100 subscribers to be able to apply for a custom URL. Please give it a sub.  (y) You know you want to.

This has been my first video that has actually turned out well. Previous ones were poorly framed and poorly lit. Thankfully a new camera method fixed the former and a customduo insert along with the nice openess of Eldon hole helped with the latter. I apologise about my weird ramblings that you hear but I think the ambient noise is important to the video and blasting music over it takes away from the effect.

This was just a gentle amble to pass a wet day while Nikki did some studying in the van. Nice enjoyable wander though.

There is a new cave videographer on the scene. This is the first in a series of documentary films which will be uploaded every week for the next 5-6 weeks.

PS The Hidden Earth Video Archive (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKRIbxKeJFwalehHu5cX5QA?sub_confirmation=1) now has 40 subscribers. Only 60 more required to apply for a custom URL.

Please enjoy this surreal film of the Marble Arch Caves made by BBC Northern Ireland in 1985, featuring Tim Fogg, a busload of schoolchildren, The Pied Piper of Hamelin, and also the young Neil Hannon, later leader of the band The Divine Comedy.

Particular highlights include bad poetry, endless bars of meandering flute playing, and far too many choral performances.

I had another great day out at Wookey Hole Caves last week at the invitation of Chris and Becca, and we made another video of the Wild Wookey Adventure Caving route. Great fun!

A bit belated, ttexla2 ? but I enjoyed watching your NAMHO video (we went on pretty much the same trips, but at different times).

What do you make of your new light (the latest (?) Fenix)?

Northern Lights in Ogof Ffynnon Ddu. IMHO this is one of the Country's finest caving trips.
