My conclusion is now that anything on the internet that people make significant money from has been corrupted by profiteers. The only bits worth looking at are places like UKC (I hope Pegasus and Badlad make enough to cover the costs but I don't think they do it for the money).

There was a time when my caving films were popular on YouTube. 5 or 6 years ago the channel was getting tens of thousands of views a day.

These days the daily video views are down to three figures and a caving video is lucky to get more than a few hundred views.

So what are people watching these days? I decided to investigate. I entered the search term "caving" and these are some of the most popular caving videos on YouTube.

I wonder if your lower views are also down to the you tube algorithm, I think it tends to favour channels which have regular releases (generally weekly) by putting them into people's recommendations etc?

You've made several great videos on the "large caver small" hole vein. Have you made a "timid caver huge drop" video though? there's plenty of really big drops in free space to choose from

I was thinking more Single Rope Technique than his No Rope Technique as that descent was probably a bit too hardcore

It also doesn't help that this kind of content can be created shockingly easy. A simple search on GitHub shows hundreds of open source software that allow you to automatically create and upload this kind of content .
