Bernie's under new ownership!

Good luck Dave and Kristian with the new venture.
I have a daft pic from about 10 years ago with a group of us outside, will send you it Kristian.

Hi Dave and Kristian,
If you hold a brush in each hand, Dave, and stand on Kristin's shoulders you should just about get the painting finished in time for a grand opening event at Easter!!!!
Seriously, though, I wish you good luck with this venture. I've told a number of people I know who take their dogs round the Falls Walk to give Bernie's their custom when you are open.

Cheers, Harry

Any news on an opening date?

Some information from the shop window.

I remember Bernard and Alice had one, and it was well popular. Mind you, in those days playing table football used to be in very cramped conditions as there was typically 50 cavers waiting to be served. Alice's poached eggs were to die for.

Oh, those lazy, crazy, halcyon days of one's youth...

I don't like to think about the kit of the 80s makes me feel a bit weak. Kit pre neoprene is worse!
With the exception of lighting, it has been marginal gains with most caving equipment since the late '80's. In some cases, it has gone backwards. For example, PVC oversuits being much harder to get. The over/undersuit + wellies + srt combination was pretty well set over the course of that decade.

I think cordless drills and smaller lithium batteries are probably the main development since then that has made a massive contribution to exploration
