Preflash

Got a new fairly cheap digi camera for xmas. Want to use it to play underground but it has a preflash which you cant turn off. Short of paying £60 for a firefly 3 which i cant afford, is there anything else i can do? other products? etc.

Set it to a short exposure delay and manually fire the flash.
Needs a tripod or a very firm stable non-wobbly base though.
