Update. They were at the back of the cutlery drawerā€¦. Cos why wouldnā€™t you keep them thereā€¦ šŸ™„šŸ¤”
Well we used to keep the angle grinder and hammer drill in the kitchen cupboard. Saves arming the burglars with al the tools to get in the house if they got in the garage. Did perplex my mother though. Having said that all my thru bolts and 8 mm bits are on the bathroom windowsill at the moment.

Being sad that I canā€™t make HE, but in perfect timing for consolation this came in the post today:

Canā€™t wait to see what the American version of ACT is like, I can already say I prefer the old style (drawings) to the picture-heavy modern FFSā€™s Caving Technical Guide.

Grumpy old man comment: The latter really isnā€™t very technical šŸ¤

Bolted the pitch I found the hangers and spits for.
Laid a bit of line in gloom and reeled it back in again and gave up.
Found a very sharp flake while climbing back up aforementioned pitch

Umm. Rings are nasty things for digging and caving. Never wear one. My mates finger was swelling after a hit. We only got the ring off in time.

Proof read the October CDG Newsletter and fired off loads of queries to folk by email. Not got a single reply yet because you're all drinking beer at the Llangollen conference! Frustrated by being stuck behind a computer for much of a nice day I then went for a run round Crummackdale, specifically to check the vis at Austwick Beck Head. 'Fraid it wasn't a pretty sight. :(

Went to that bloody conference!

Quick catch up with people I knew and gave some biscuits to the volunteers. Also dished out loads of neoprene patches to people to repair their wetsuits and over suits.

Attended talks on Peru, Mulu and interestingly and entertainingly caving politics by the current BCA chair.

Was good to see the UKC team in the trade hall but I was too late for mugs on the day šŸ˜”

Popped to the hospital for a 2 week course of very strong antibiotics and a ring removal after the weekends little finger bashing!
(Serious-ish note and I should know better, be careful caving with rings on, I was lucky I didnā€™t deglove my finger)

When I was a kid a friend of my dad had a finger missing from one hand.
During the war he had jumped down from the back of an army lorry and his wedding ring got caught between the tailgate and the side.

@Chocolate fireguard its easy done, daft thing is Iā€™ve seen a few through my job but never considered caving much of a risk for it where as climbing I probably would. Thought provoking
