Is that because we are either
A: too old
B: too young

to remember 2010 !?!?!  ;D

Or maybe when you get to a certain age, stuff that seems vitally important to some people pales into insignificance compared with watching your mind and body crumble around you?

A lot of data breaches last year
Not saying necessarily down to Facebook or whatever but various scraps of data are collected from assorted sources and linked together for various nefarious purposes by some dodgy people.  Plus you have the more 'legitimate' side of flogging data for a pile of cash (I think various charities were fined by the Information Commissioner for such activity) to pretty much anyone for targeted advertising etc.

The savvy user gets past the data collection issues you've all talked out.
Not a chance if you've signed up.

An enormous amount of data is collected about you as soon as you own a mobile phone, use the internet or use a car. Avoiding Facebook to protect your data privacy is like fencing off a square metre of crops in an acre.

I must say that we get a lot of stuff for free but now pay for it by sharing our lives with others.  Those who worry about people knowing what we are doing should remind themselves there are something like 9 billion individuals on this planet. If they are out to get you they have plenty of choices.
